Sneak peek – Munster High School’s Footloose ‘kicks off the Sunday shoes’ April 25–28

-

MUNSTER, Ind. (April 24, 2024) – Loose feet will be tapping this weekend as Munster High School students bring the rollicking musical Footloose to life.

Based on the film of the same name — which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year — Footloose follows the story of Ren McCormack, a transplanted teen from Chicago who finds himself in small-town Bomont, where dancing is banned. With Ren as its spark, the town’s youth rebel, face their trauma, and find the joy of dancing again.

On the Munster stage, DeAnthony Bowden plays Ren with youthful vigor in his first musical role. Equally impressive is Ariyah Jamerson as Ariel Moore, the only young person in the town who seems able to withstand her own father’s death grip on the town’s fun-having.

In his director’s note, Ray Palasz said, “We have worked on highlighting three main themes of this show: fighting for what one believes in, listening to your opposition, and overcoming traumatic experiences.”

Performances will take place April 25–28 in the Munster High School Auditorium, located at 8808 Columbia Avenue. Showtimes are all at 7 p.m. apart from Sunday, which is at 2 p.m.

Tickets are available at munaud.booktix.com.
