Video: Embarrassed by local politics — a Harvey local offers hope


LANSING, Ill. (May 3, 2024) – When community members speak about being embarrassed by local politics, Felicity Joy Solomon understands. And perhaps surprisingly, the 2022 Illinois State Senate candidate says voting is not the answer to our current crisis. Or at least it’s not the first step.

Solomon, a resident of Harvey, Illinois, sat down with The Lansing Journal to talk politics. She brought to the conversation her political experience with the system, and her professional experience as a counselor and life coach:

  1. Not sure this was a good way of making Dr. Solomon known to the public. I didn’t here from her that she has a real grasp of local issues. A lot a platitudes and softball inquiries. But I hope to see her engage at the township/community meetings.

  2. Dr. Solomon seems like a voice of reason. The beautiful Lansing Library is an excellent backdrop for interviews.
