Obituary: Douglas E. Satterfield

November 25, 1960 – April 13, 2024

Douglas E. Satterfield We are saddened by the sudden passing of a great son, brother, uncle and friend to many. Doug is survived by his loving brother David, sisters Dawna and Diane, niece Nicole and the apple of his eye, his dedicated dog Bogart.

Doug is preceded in death by his wife Sandy, nee Amptmeyer (whom he lost on 9/13/21 and never stopped loving and missing), his parents W.L. and Doris Satterfield and his dogs, Duchess, Dobie, Duffy, Dagger and Yogi.

A private service was held per his request and a celebration of life is being planned for a future date for family and friends to laugh and share their Doug stories.

Doug graduated from Gavit High School class of 1979, where he participated in several athletic programs. It was there that he began playing golf, hockey, and softball. Doug kept track of many major sports teams with the Boston Bruins being a favorite. Doug joined the Marine Corps after high school and then got into his restaurant management career with his last position being a manager at Doc’s Smokehouse, which he enjoyed.

Special acknowledgment to Nicole, Diane, Kevin Safin (best friend), Jill and John Hayhurst (best neighbors) for being there each day to support Doug with maintaining life’s every day chores at the house and babysitting Bogart these past few years.

There was not an animal that Doug would not feed and protect in the neighborhood between the birds, squirrels, and cats — and he made sure they were fed and no harm was done to them. Doug had a big heart and will be missed by many. In Doug’s memory please help any animal in need, however you can.
