Local Voices: Missing Jesse White

-

Submitted by Tom Shepherd

Boy, am I ever sorry that we’ve recently had a change of Secretary of State in Illinois.

During the long tenure of former Secretary of State Jesse White, I’ve remarked several times how his administration improved customer service considerably from prior SOS administrations. Especially for senior citizens.

Now, we’ve sunk back to poor (nearly non-existent) service for us taxpayers by the new SOS, Alexi Giannoulious.

I was turned around at the SOS office because I didn’t have an appointment. I was handed a card by an employee with a number to call for an appointment. After a 32-minute wait — 32 minutes on hold! — I was told that I needn’t have an appointment to merely purchase a new license plate tag. So, wasted trip to the DMV, followed by a wait of over 1/2 hour on the phone.

What a waste of my time! I hope that you are a one-term elected official, Mr. Giannoulious, if this is how you treat you are going to treat your constituents.

  1. Agree, when I applied for my senior plates/sticker I was told I didn’t qualify even though the only qualifying requirement is to be a senior, over 65 years old. They already have that information from my driver’s license so how is it I didn’t qualify? They can find me quite easily when they want to pass along any rate/tax increases.

  2. It’s ironic that no one seems to have noticed the voter percentages many of these “elected” officials received last year. Looking at numbers for many top state offices, they all “won” by very similar margins, with very similar vote totals, which is mathematically impossible unless… Not surprised. It is Illinois after all.

Giannoulious is part of a larger nation-wide crew who has been instructed to dole out orders pertaining to a new normal way of life for Americans. He is adamant on pushing for Illinois to switch to electronic ID cards. No different than Amazon/Bezos unveiling “pay with your palm” at Whole Foods or wanting to create a large health database of every American’s medical records. Gee, what could that be used for?

This technology tsunami is getting too close for comfort as government and corporate tracking encroaches on us more and more. Sadly, many people from different generations have been duped into believing the “efficiency” scam. The time to awaken to what lies ahead has come and gone. Two years of illegal edicts and overwhelming silence have gotten us to this point. Buckle up, and wake up, because their plan is unveiling in plain sight and it’s already here.
