Rosalie Ann Szarek, nee Segally, age 87, of Dyer, IN, formerly of Hegewisch, IL, passed away peacefully Friday, December 15, 2023. Loving wife of the late John B. Szarek. Devoted mother of Katherine (Terry) Nellemann, John (Pamela) Szarek, Richard (Tammy) Szarek, Nancy (Raymond) Matela, Sandra (late Randy) Merrick, and Kimberly (Michael) Mucharski. Proud grandmother of 12; great-grandmother of 15. Dearest sister of the late Victor, Robert, Mary Ann, and Frances. Preceded in death by her parents Frank and Josephine Segally. Kind aunt and great-aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Visitation Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.) in Dyer, IN. Visitation Friday, December 22, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Rosalie’s funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. directly at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 500 Northgate Dr., Dyer, IN, with Rev. Charles Niblick officiating. Interment Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery – Crown Point, IN.
