Marilyn “Lyn” R. Best, nee Schmidt, age 79, of Cedar Lake, IN, formerly of South Holland, IL and Dyer, IN went home to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Beloved wife of Brian E. Best. Loving mother of Jeffrey (Susan) Best, Thomas (Robin) Best, and Christopher Best. Cherished grandmother of Brian, Lauren, Emma and Grant. Dear sister of the late Sharon Davis, Pamela (Roger) Anderson, and Barbara Courter. Aunt of several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Gilbert and June Schmidt. Marilyn was a Graduate of Western Michigan University and was a special education teacher before becoming a homemaker. She was an active member at Faith Church for many years, serving various ways including being on the prayer team. She was also an avid reader. Marilyn was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Visitation Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. Visitation also Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Church, 100 W. 81st Ave. Dyer, IN.
