Ronald Evers, age 89, of Munster, IN, formerly of Lansing, IL, went home to his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 15 2023. Beloved husband of the late Arlene Evers, nee Schipma. Loving father of Dale (Lori) Evers, Jeffrey (Vicki) Evers, and Renee (late David) Hoeksema. Devoted grandfather of Kristin (Adam) Planer, Karissa (Tyler) Hook, Nicole (Nile) Sandeen, Sarah (Brian) Van Brussel, Michelle (Philip) Katzberg, Amanda (Jonathon) Van Laar, Lorelli Hoeksema, Allyssa Hoeksema, and Mary (Michael) Nardi; and great-grandfather of 10.
Dear brother of the late Wilma, (late George) Candilas, John (late Alice) Evers, late Tom (late Rita) Evers, late Dorothy (late Norman) Kampe, Edward (late Carrie) Evers, Phyllis (late Louis Bruinsma, late Mel DeBoer), late Wesley (Sharon) Evers. Preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Dora Evers. Ron was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Mr. Evers was a longtime member of Oak Glen United Reformed Church in Lansing, IL. He was a Korean War U.S. Navy Veteran and a volunteer fireman for the Lansing Fire Department for over 30 years.
Visitation Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of his funeral service at 6:30 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.), Dyer, IN, with Rev. Paul Ipema officiating. Private family interment at Beverly Cemetery – Blue Island, IL. Memorials may be given to Lansing Christian School (https://lansingchristian.org/).
