Obituary: Randall J. De Salvo

August 31, 1962 – August 1, 2023

Randall J. De Salvo We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Randall Joseph De Salvo of Dyer. Randy was a caring husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He left this world suddenly and far too soon on August 1, 2023 at age 60.

Randy was born to Russell and MaryAnn De Salvo on August 31, 1962. He was married to his beautiful saint of a wife, Peggy, nee Lawler, and together they had two children: Tessa and Aaron.

Randy loved spending time in the kitchen making some of the best espresso lattes and meals for his family. He loved fishing, singing, playing the guitar and piano. He could pick up any instrument with his insane musical talent. Randy lit up every room he walked into and instantly brought happiness and laughter to everyone in it. The neighborhood kids knew him as “Mad Dawg” and he will always be the coolest dad on the block.

Randy will be so incredibly missed by his family, friends, and everyone else’s lives he touched in passing. He lives on through his wife Peggy, children: Tessa and Aaron, son in law: Jeff Abenante, two beautiful grandchildren: Jeffrey Joseph and Elizabetta Abenante, his father Russell DeSalvo, his sister Linda Brinkmeyer, his puppies Izzy, Luna, Ace “Brutus”, and all of his loving family and friends. He will never be forgotten.

A memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2023, from 3 – 8 p.m. with a memorial service at 7 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. In memory of Randy, memorial contributions may be given to the family for his grandchildren’s college education. For further information, please call 219-322-7300.
