LANSING, Ill. (September 18, 2022) – Our Saviour Lutheran Church will install the Reverend Doctor Kyle Johnson as pastor on Sunday, September 25. The ceremony will take place during the church’s regular 9:30 a.m. worship service.
Johnson has served as long-term pulpit supply at Our Saviour since August 2001. He was ordained into the Ministry of Word and Sacrament in July 2022.
Pastoral ministry is a second career for Johnson. He holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in organ performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and the Master of Music degree in organ performance with a choral conducting cognate from Indiana University. His undergraduate study was at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas.
Over the course of his academic career, Johnson taught at four colleges and universities, most recently as coordinator of chapel music, university organist, and lecturer of music at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks. In 2016, he moved to Chicago to pursue studies at the Lutheran School of Theology, graduating with the Master of Divinity degree in May 2021.
“Serving the wonderful people at Our Saviour brings me great joy,” said Johnson, “and I look forward to the new programs and events we have planned for this fall and winter.”
