LANSING, Ill. (June 2, 2022) — The final sport to end its season at TF South this spring was Boys Track, which sent four athletes to the state tournament on May 27 and 28.

Leading up to state

At the sectional track meet on May 18, four Red Wolves qualified for state:

  • Isaiah Isom (Sr.) and Karrell Harvest (So.): discus
  • Isaiah Isom: shot put
  • Navonte Arnold (Sr.): 300m hurdles
  • Ryan Coleman (Sr): 200m dash

State

The two-day state tournament was held at Eastern Illinois University on May 27 and 28.

  • In the 200m dash, Coleman ran a preliminary rash of 21.98 seconds, the second-best of the field of 29 runners. In the final race of nine runners, Coleman ran 22.38 seconds, earning him sixth place in the state.
  • Isom reached 16.64 meters in the shot put event, earning him ninth place in the state.
  • In the 300m hurdles, Arnold ran 41.62 seconds, earning him 15th in the preliminary race, not enough to move him to the final round.
  • Both Isom and Harvest did not advance to the final round of the discus event.

“The state meet experience was great for seniors Navonte, Ryan, and Isaiah because they all were robbed of a year and a half of track due to COVID,” said Elissa Belli, track coach at TFS. “The state meet experience was very important for Karrell, a sophomore, because now he’ll know what to expect for the next two years at the state meet.”

TF South is located at 18500 Burnham Avenue in Lansing.
