LANSING, Ill. (May 28, 2022) — The school year is coming to a close, and with it comes the end of sports of TF South. Below are the most recent scores for the spring sports as they close the end of their seasons:
TFS Girls Track and Field
May 20
Meet: State Track and Field – located at Eastern Illinois University
Result: TFS 4x200m relay team placed 13th in the state.
Taylor Poole (So.), Jasonay Starkley (Sr.), Laniya Porter (Jr.) and Janiya Lucas (So.) qualified for state after winning second place in their sectional meet in the 4x200m relay. At the state tournament, the foursome did not make the cut to advance to the finals, and placed 13th in the state with a time of 1:46.04
TFS Baseball
May 12
Opponent: Argo High School
Result: TFS beat Argo 10-2 on Senior Day.
The Red Wolves were led by Player of the Game Dylan Modjeski, who threw six innings of two-run ball and notched eight strikeouts.
May 12
Opponent: Richards High School
Result: TFS beat Richards in the last game of the regular season.
The Red Wolves’ 19th win on the season came with the help of Player of the Game Jack Starcevich, who went 1-2 with two RBIs and closed the game on the mound. The team was also led by Ethan Modjeski, who went 2-2 and pitched a scoreless fourth inning.
May 25
Opponent: Regional game vs. Providence Catholic High School
Results: In a regional playoff game, the Red Wolves lost to the Celtics of Providence Catholic 8-3.
TFS knocked five hits in the game, while Providence hit 11. TFS scored one run in the third inning and two runs in the sixth inning in the loss.
TF United Mens Volleyball
May 12
Opponent: Argo High School
Result: TFU’s Varsity squad won 22-25, 25-14, 25-21, while the JV team won 25-17, 25-19.
May 16
Opponent: Bremen High School, Oak Forest High School
Results: TFU’s Varsity squad beat Oak Forest 14-25, 19-25, while the JV team beat Bremen 25-16, 25-20.
May 23
Opponent: Regional game vs. Romeoville High School
Results: The combined TFS and TFN team lost to Romeoville 17-25, 25-27 to close on the season at the regional level.
