Obituary Chris Mizner

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Chris Mizner, age 56, of Lansing.

Loved by many, he will be especially missed by his mom, Lynn Mizner; sons, Connor and Caden Mizner; wife, Sandy Mizner; and sister, Melissa Teller.

Chris retired from the Lansing Police Department in 2019 after 28 years of dedicated service, serving as Officer, Sergeant, Criminal Investigations Sergeant, and Lieutenant, as well as Field Training Officer and Firearms Instructor. Family was everything to Chris, and that included his police family.

Those of us who were lucky enough to know Chris will remember him for his wacky, offbeat sense of humor, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and — even though he didn’t always want you to see it — his great big heart.

Retirement agreed with Chris, and he loved spending time with his two sons, hanging out with his Great Danes Lincoln and Larry, puttering in the yard, cooking, and selling old stuff on eBay.

We were so very blessed to have Chris, and we are comforted in our belief that he’s in heaven right now, discussing the upcoming NFL draft with his dad, Bob.

A memorial service and gathering of friends and family will be held in the near future.
