24th Annual Judith Miedema Blood Drive scheduled for April 6

SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. (March 27, 2024) – Thorn Creek Reformed Church in South Holland will again host the Judith Miedema Memorial Community Blood Drive on Saturday, April 6, from 7:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. This year marks the 24th iteration of the drive.

A flyer for the event said, “In 1992, Judy organized our first blood drive as a mission to the community. This was carried on for twenty years. We continue in Judy’s memory.”

Judith Miedema was a long-time eighth-grade English teacher at Lansing Christian School, and she served in children’s ministries at Thorn Creek Reformed Church.

Staff and volunteers will give goodie bags to the first 50 appointments at the event. Donors will receive a coupon for a free pint of frozen custard from Culver’s.

Vitalant will organize and conduct the drive. Appointments are highly recommended. Donors should eat well, come hydrated, and bring their ID.

Thorn Creek Reformed Church is located at 1875 E 170th Street, South Holland, Illinois. The blood drive will take place in the church’s gym.
