Kathleen Ann Arvia, age 63, of Chicago, Illinois, formerly of Harvey and Lansing, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024.

She was born on February 5, 1961, in Chicago to adoring parents James and Jeanne Arvia.

Kathleen is survived by her loving brothers Jim (Cathy) and Tom (Ronie), her niece Katie, her nephew Vincent, and her great-nieces Madelyn and Natalie. She is also survived by many devoted friends. Kathleen is preceded in death by her father James, mother Jeanne (nee Horan), brother Robert, and nephew Matt.

Kathleen followed in her mother’s footsteps and pursued a BSN from Saint Xavier University, going on to become a dedicated pediatric emergency room nurse for nearly three decades. Kathleen also served the community through her nursing work at The House of Hope. She was passionate about animal welfare and had a deep affection for her beloved dogs, Nelly and Penny, as well as many others before. Kathleen was a devoted fan of the Chicago White Sox. She loved The Beatles, Star Wars, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and RuPaul’s Drag Race. Kathleen also enjoyed spending time in Door County, Wisconsin.

The Arvia family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Kathleen and her life at Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois, on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 3:00 to 6:30 PM. A Catholic prayer vigil of remembrance will immediately follow until 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made in Kathleen’s memory to PAWS Chicago or the South Suburban Humane Society.
