Taco Bell now open on Torrence, offering tech-focused ordering and late-night hours

LANSING, Ill. (November 13, 2023) – Taco Bell is now open at 17943 Torrence Avenue in Lansing, following a ribbon cutting ceremony that took place on November 13, 2023.

The Mexican-inspired fast food restaurant offers patrons tech-forward ordering and pick-up options, as well as hours that cater to late-night dining.

Construction began on the project in late spring of this year, on the land once occupied by Rosemoor Funeral Home. Taco Bell is the second to be completed of three new dining options at the intersection of Torrence and Thornton-Lansing Road — following Starbucks’ opening a year ago, and ahead of Chipotle, which is currently under construction on the west side of Torrence.

“We’re excited to be opening up for the Lansing public today. It’s a great opportunity because Taco Bell is a culture, it’s a vibe, it’s alive,” said Nate Hull, Market Coach for Taco Bell franchise group Team Lyders.

Drive-thru, outdoor dining

Drive-thru patrons will notice two lanes, one for traditional ordering, and the other for mobile order pick-up through the Taco Bell app.

“You won’t have to wait behind the [traditional] drive-thru line,” Hull said, “You can just go up to the mobile order line and you’ll get your order faster.”

Customers can also use their Taco Bell app to choose if they’d like to park in one of the designated spots and pick up their order in the restaurant, or pick it up in the mobile order drive-thru lane.

“The software that we have will pick you up as soon as you hit the parking lot,” said Molly Trosko, Director of Operations.

For those looking to order inside the restaurant, there are digital screens that can be used to submit an order, as well as employees that can take a traditional order.

The location also offers outdoor seating for those wishing to enjoy a Crunchwrap Supreme or Quesarito outside.

The location is currently open until 4 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 5 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. It also serves breakfast.

Hiring, staff

“We’ve got 10 managers and 25 employees,” said Trosko.

“And we’re looking to hire more in our community,” Hull added.

Hull said the staff at the restaurant went through a 90-day training program where they received training at the Taco Bell in Calumet City.

Taco Bell favorites?

Both Trosko and Hull have been connected to Taco Bell for years, and both have their own recommendations. Trosko’s favorite menu item is the Cheesy Gordita Crunch, a soft flatbread wrapped around a hard-shell taco filled with seasoned beef, spicy ranch sauce, crispy lettuce, and shredded cheese.

Hull described himself as a “Dorito Taco guy” — referring to Taco Bell’s popular Doritos Locos Taco, which features a Dorito as the hard taco shell.

Taco Bell is located at 17943 Torrence Avenue in Lansing. Online ordering is available on Taco Bell’s website, or on the app.
