Lansing Christian School volunteers turn a family recipe into a school fundraiser

LANSING, Ill. (October 13, 2023) – Apple Pie Day is an annual event at Lansing Christian School, returning this year for the first time since COVID. The day involves hundreds of volunteers, dozens of cases of apples, a thousand of sticks of butter, massive quantities of flour, sugar, and cinnamon, and a series of tried-and-true systems for assembling all those ingredients into 1,000 ready-to-freeze or ready-to-bake pies:

Any apple pies left?

An update on Facebook indicated that the Apple Pie Team actually assembled 1,100 pies on Thursday. And a post on Lansing Christian School’s Facebook page announced that they still had pies available for sale on Friday. There is a possibility that some pies will be left when the school reopens on Monday. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  1. I may have missed it but I didn’t hear any mention of what the donation cost per pie would be. Incase there are any left Monday morning.

    • Good point, Bruce! Lansing Christian School is selling these apple pies for $15 each. One of the office workers posted this morning (Saturday) that they have 75 left and will begin selling them again Monday morning.
