Theft suspect caught in Lansing after allegedly using dating app to meet victims

LANSING, Ill. (October 11, 2023) – On Monday afternoon, police from Lansing, Oak Forest, and the Cook County Forest Preserve apprehended a suspect near Stony Island Avenue and Thornton-Lansing Road wanted in several theft cases.

According to a Lansing Police Department press release, 27-year-old Dolton resident Davon T. Fullilove, “would allegedly meet his victims via a dating app and take advantage of the situation to steal items from the victims.”

Police set up “surveillance” near Stony Island Avenue and Thornton-Lansing Road and chased Fullilove into a nearby field when he fled from investigators. He was found hiding in the field and apprehended without incident.

Fullilove has been charged with several counts of theft, and has multiple outstanding warrants from Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin, according to the release. He was sent to an initial hearing at the Cook County Sixth Municipal District in Markham.

“The Lansing Police Department would like to remind everyone to be very cautious when meeting individuals through dating websites,” the release said.
