Gary W. McNamara Sr., age 83, of Munster, IN, formerly of Lansing, IL, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 6, 2023. Beloved husband the late Virginia L. McNamara, nee Schoon. Loving father of Kimberly (Robert) Ballard and Gary W. McNamara Jr. Dear grandfather of William Leary, Heather (Brandon) Miller, Michelle (Adam) Feige, Kelly (Tony) Sarna, Emily McNamara, and Jeffrey Ballard; great-grandfather of Caleb and Nora Feige. Dear brother of the late Patrick McNamara. Brother-in-law of Karen (late Charles) Gist, Judy (Robert ) Rude, late Donna Maxcy, Richard (Debbie) Schoon Jr., late Cheryl Kortenhoven, Robert (Cheryl) Schoon, and Lupe (Rex) Rankin. Kind uncle of many nephews and nieces.
Gary was the co-founder of Illiana Plumbing Supply. He loved camping, traveling and fishing. Gary was a longtime member and faithful servant at Grace Church in Lansing where he was an elder, deacon, worship leader, worship ministry team leader, choir member, small group leader, and bus driver. He served on the Building and Grounds Committee and was a prayer ministry partner, and mentor to many. Well done good and faithful servant. Great is your reward.
Visitation Monday, September 11, 2023, from 3 – 8 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with services conducted by Rev. Andy Nearpass and Pastor Steven Harrison. Interment Munster Christian Reformed Cemetery – Munster, IN. Memorials may be given to Grace Church Lansing Building and Grounds Fund (2740 Indiana Avenue, Lansing, IL 60438).
