Obituary Linda Poppe

Linda Poppe passed away September 3, 2023, at Crown Point Christian Village in Indiana.

She was born July 10, 1936, to Alwin and Elenore (Baack) Poppe in Hammond, Indiana. After graduating high school, she began her forty-year career in the central mail room for NiPSCO. Linda was an active member at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lansing, Illinois, working for many years with the Altar Guild, Ladies Aide/LWML, and Braille. She enjoyed taking trips, visiting Europe, parts of Canada, and California, to name a few.

Linda was also an avid knitter and crocheter. Living in Lansing most of her life, she moved to Wittenberg Village in Crown Point, Indiana, in 2016, and had recently moved to Crown Point Christian Village. She is preceded in death by her sister, Janet Poppe, and her brother, James Poppe. She is survived by her brother Richard (late Jeanne) Poppe, and her sister Anita (late Luis) Castro-Conde, her sister-in-law Julie Poppe, two nieces, two nephews, two great nieces, three great nephews, and cousins.

A service for Linda will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, with Pastor John Richy officiating. The service will be followed by a graveside service at Oak Glen Lutheran Cemetery in Lansing. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18100 Wentworth, Lansing IL, 60438. Linda was loved by many, and she will be truly missed.
