Thomas J. Koontz, age 60, of Dyer, Indiana, born August 19,1962, in Chicago Heights, IL, passed away June 13, 2023. Son of the late Thomas J. Koontz, Sr. and Sharon (Murphy) (Earl Wernes). He leaves behind his wife Janet (Bazant), and two adult stepchildren, Jill (Anthony Carta) and Jason (Korinne), and his former wife Maria Spaw (Doug Griffin). Loving father to his three daughters, Jessica (Scott Morgan), Heather (Brady Hare), and Nicole Koontz (Zack Palmer), and beloved grandfather to Eleanore, Tyler, Gavin, and Mila, and brother to Elizabeth Koontz (Ryanne Lozano). He was uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
Tom was a body builder with the sweetness of a child. He worked at Allstate Printing for many years. He loved weightlifting, model trains, spending time with family, and vacationing “Up North” on Moose Lake. There are so many wonderful, happy memories. Tom will be deeply missed.
Memorial visitation Sunday, June 18, 2023, from 2 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 5 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN with Rev. Charles Niblick officiating.
A Celebration of Life memorial service in Wisconsin to be held in the near future.
