Thursday pop-up pantry to include free tablets; ID required

LANSING, Ill. (June 14, 2023) – The Thursday, June 15, pop-up food pantry at Mt. Zion Ministries will also include giveaways of free tablets from ACCESS Wireless.

According to Mt. Zion’s Betty Burley, the free tablets include free unlimited internet. She provided the following qualifications that are required in order to receive a free tablet.

Recipients must have one or more of the following:

  • Snap Benefits (Link Card, Food stamps)
  • Medicaid
  • Social Security Income/ Disability
  • Section 8
  • Veteran status

The Android tablets include:

  • Unlimited Free Internet
  • Unlimited Talk/Text
  • Free Case
  • 8 MP Camera
  • 8 inch screen
  • 64 GB Internal Memory + 3 GB RAM
  • Micro SD up to 128GB
  • Date Cable
  • Type C charger

Though most Mt. Zion pop-up pantries do not require recipients to show ID, people interested in receiving a free tablet will need to show a valid state ID. Bringing proof of benefits is also preferred.
