Get the scoop on our new partnership with Gayety’s Ice Cream

LANSING, Ill. (May 5, 2023) – The Lansing Journal is trying something new this summer, and we are grateful for fun people like Laurene Lemanski — owner of Gayety’s Ice Cream & Chocolates — who was willing to join us.

What do ice cream and newspapers have to do with each other? That’s what this week’s video explains:

Thank you, Gayety’s, home of Journal Java Chip ice cream

We are grateful to Laurene Lemanski for being willing to experiment with a new kind of partnership that we hope will benefit us both. We are also grateful to Monica, Gabi, and other team members at Gayety’s who brainstormed with us, answered questions, and helped us develop the Journal Java Chip idea. We know it adds a little extra work to their routine, and we appreciate the good sports they all are.

Thank you, Excel Printing and Mailing

Mike Paholke and the crew at Excel printed the Journal Java Chip business cards we needed, and they got them finished fast. Excel Printing and Mailing is located at 924 E 162nd Street in South Holland, Illinois.

Thank you, Tiny’s Flowers

After the Journal had spent hours Googling different possibilities, a visit to Tiny’s Flowers gave us exactly what we needed. Tiny shared her expertise about flower picks, which is what we ended up using to transform regular java chip ice cream into JOURNAL JAVA CHIP. Tiny also generously ordered a large quantity of picks for us to use this summer. Tiny’s Flowers is located at 18055 Torrence Avenue in Lansing.

Thank you, Sue and Dan Bovino

Husband and wife photography team Sue and Dan Bovino met Josh, Melanie, and Laurene at Gayety’s — on short notice — for a photo shoot that provided the photos we’ll be using in our Journal Java Chip promo pieces. Both Sue and Dan are active on Facebook, where they share photos, history, nature, and humor.
