23rd Annual Judith Miedema Blood Drive scheduled for March 25

SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. (March 7, 2023) – Thorn Creek Reformed Church in South Holland will again host the Judith Miedema Memorial Community Blood Drive on Saturday, March 25 from 7:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. This year will mark the 23rd iteration of the drive.

A flyer for the event said, “In 1992, Judy organized our first blood drive as a mission to the community. This was carried on for twenty years. We continue in Judy’s memory.”

Judith Miedema was a long-time eighth grade English teacher at Lansing Christian School, and served children’s ministries at Thorn Creek Reformed Church.

Goodie bags will be given to the first 50 appointments at the event, with all presenting donors receiving a coupon for a free pin of frozen custard from Culver’s.

The blood drive will be executed by Vitalant. Interested donors can call Lorna Bischof at 708-474-3563 to schedule an appointment, or email the Thorn Creek Church office at [email protected]. Donors can also call Vitalant at 877-258-4825 or visit Vitalant.org and use group code: ORD0007I.

Appointments are highly recommended. Donors are encouraged to eat well, come hydrated, and bring their ID. The blood drive will take place in the church’s gym.
