Obituary: John T. Vandermolen

May 08, 1926 – December 15, 2018

John Vandermolen, age 92 of Lakeland, FL, formerly of Lansing, IL, went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 15, 2018.

He is survived by his three children: Carl (Jan) of Lansing, Diane (John) Bakker of Lakeland, FL, and Roy (Brenda) of Munster, IN. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, brother Wayne, and sister Betty. Mr. Vandermolen was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 60 years: Pearl.

Mr. Vandermolen will be laid to rest on Thursday, January 3, 2019, in Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Stickney, IL. There will be a memorial service for John on January 3 at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, at 3:00pm, followed by a time of fellowship for friends at the funeral home until 7:00pm.

A member of the Greatest Generation, Mr. Vandermolen honorably served our country during WWII in the U.S. Army. He was set to be involved with the invasion of Japan when the war ended. He was employed by Western Electric working with phones and communication equipment.

Therefore,

and serve him day and night in his temple;
and he who sits on the throne
will shelter them with his presence.

never again will they thirst.
The sun will not beat down on them,’
nor any scorching heat.
For the Lamb at the center of the throne
will be their shepherd;
‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’
‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’”
