Obituary: Joan A. Novotny

January 23, 1940 – March 31, 2024

Joan A. Novotny Joan Novotny, age 84, peacefully passed away on glorious Easter Sunday to be with her Lord and Savior, March 31, 2024. She was born on January 23, 1940, in Chicago, IL to Violet and Harold Neeley. She was a resident of South Holland and was a graduate of Fox Business School. Beloved wife of Thomas Ray Novotny. Loving mother of Jack (Cathy) Griffin, the late Thomas Novotny, Teresa (Scott) Smith, Timothy (Diane) Novotny, and Jennifer (Ron) Senzel. Dear grandmother of Daniel (Victoria) Smith, Jordan (Brent) VerHagen, Karli Novotny, Kevin (Nicole) Novotny, Julia (Juan) Gutierrez, Gina (Joshua) Walters, Noelle (Justin) Maurizi, Caleb Senzel, Joshua Senzel, Keaton Senzel, and Evan Senzel. Great-grandmother of Tessa, Mollie, Wells, Brent III, Kapri, McKayla, Rylynn, Jaxson, Ireland, Everly, Vince, Ryan, and Ella. Preceded in death by her parents Harold and Violet Neeley.

She dedicated her life to being a stay-at-home mom raising her children. She loved cooking, cleaning, and gardening. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they brought her much joy. She was a dedicated member to Spirit of God Fellowship for 50 years; faithfully served in many ministries. She led Bible studies, she served in our drug rehab ministry, she and her husband led house churches, most of all she was an evangelist and wanted to share the Gospel of Jesus to everyone she knew.

Visitation Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Spirit of God Fellowship, 16350 State Street, South Holland, IL with Pastor Brian Kamstra officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to Restoration Ministries, 253 E 159th Street, Harvey IL 60426. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery – Elwood, IL.
