February 15, 1930 – March 26, 2024
Stephen Mayerak, Jr., went to be with his Lord on March 26, 2024. He was a proud veteran serving in the army during the Korean conflict. He was a life member of the Lansing American Legion having been a member for 70 years. He served his community as a member of the Lansing Lions Club for 50 years, and he received the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellow award for his service. He was a long-time member of the Lansing Country Club where he served on several boards and committees. Stephen and his first wife Mary were the owners of Lansing Floral and Greenhouse for 44 years before retiring as their sons took over the business. Stephen loved golfing, fishing, hunting, and boating. He loved to travel and visited many countries.
Stephen is survived by his wife Myra, son Jim (Betty), daughter-in-law Dawn (late Sherman), step daughter-in-law Melody (Brad) Spay, step sons Kyle Wiening, Kurt (Ann) Wiening, Keith (Kelly) Wiening. Stephen had 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Stephen was preceded in death by his first wife Mary of 59 years, his parents Stephen and Sylvana Mayerak, his sons Sherman and Alan Mayerak.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday April 10, 2024, from 2:00 to 8:00 PM. at Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL. Funeral services for Steve will be held Thursday, April 11, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church, 18100 Wentworth Ave., Lansing, IL., at 11:00 AM, with Pastor John Richy officiating. There will be a visitation in the chapel from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Donations to the family would be appreciated.
