Obituary Rosemarie Lotspeich

Rosemarie Lotspeich (nee Ehmke), age 89, passed away peacefully while residing at Warren Barr in Chicago on the morning of March 17, 2024. She was born on November 28, 1934, to Karl and Frieda Ehmke and grew up in her beloved hometown of Zinnowitz, Germany. Shortly after moving to America, Rosemarie married Joseph Lotspeich on June 26, 1960, joining his family, siblings Martha and Emil, and their mother Veronica.

Rosemarie will be dearly missed, and her memory is honored by her children, Ralph, his wife Ana, Curt, Vera, her husband Anthony Psyk; and her grandchildren, AJ, his wife April, Nicholas, and David. She is also survived by her youngest sister Uschi, her husband Wolfgang Vogt, and a community of extended relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Joe, her parents, her brother Otto, his wife Inge, sister Helga Schmidt, and her husband Heinz.

Rosemarie was known for her vivacious personality, delicious cooking, and business skills along with a fearless ambition that enabled her to open a restaurant called Rosemarie’s in Lansing, Illinois, and then the White Rose Inn in Lynwood, Illinois, where she had many employees and regular customers that became dear friends of the family over the years.

After retirement, she moved to Miller Beach, Indiana. She was an avid reader, loved gardening, and loved to host and attend many parties, becoming well-liked in the communities she resided in.

Rosemarie’s life was a medley of love, a strong work ethic, and a community that will resonate in the hearts of those she touched forever. She will be profoundly missed but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her.

Funeral services for Rosemarie will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:30 PM with services immediately following. Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements and care of Rosemarie. Donations in Rosemarie’s name may be made to Humane Society of Northwest Indiana, www.humanesocietynorthwestindiana.org.
