Obituary: William J. DeBoer Jr.

William J. DeBoer Jr. William J. DeBoer Jr., age 89, of St. John, IN, went home to his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 26 2024. Beloved husband of Alvina DeBoer (Bakker), nee Docter and the late June H. DeBoer, nee Buteyn. Loving father of Susan (Rodney) Zwier and the late David (Beth) DeBoer; Step-father of Gene (Patricia) Bakker, Marilyn (Randy) Helmus, David Bakker, Debra Bakker, Rhonda (Mike) Van Dellen, and Michael (Dawn) Bakker. Cherished grandfather of 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 15 step- grandchildren and 35 step-great-grandchildren. Dear brother of the late John (late Edith) DeBoer, late Florence (Ralph) Buikema, late Richard (late Jennie) DeBoer, and the late Anna Mae (late John) Hamstra. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Dorothy and William DeBoer Sr. Bill was a United States Army Veteran. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Visitation Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.) Dyer, IN. Funeral service Friday, March 29, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at Community United Reformed Church, 8405 Alexander St. Schererville, IN, with Rev. David Klompien officiating. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery – Elwood, IL.
