Bullet holes in vehicles and a car in flames – LPD investigating two Thursday night incidents

Minor injuries sustained — unknown if the incidents are linked

LANSING, Ill. (February 16, 2024) – On Thursday, February 15, at 8:28 p.m., the Lansing Police Department responded to the 18500 block of Wildwood Avenue for a shots fired call. Officers located shell casings and broken glass in the area. A short time later, it was learned that two individuals arrived at Community Hospital in Munster, Indiana in a vehicle with numerous bullet holes in it. The individuals were treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and released from the hospital.

At 10:05 p.m., Lansing Police and Fire Departments responded to the 2300 block of 185th Street for a vehicle on fire. A Hyundai Elantra with Illinois registration was engulfed in flames. The vehicle was reported as stolen out of Lake County, Illinois and had numerous bullet holes in it. The vehicle was unoccupied and no injuries were reported.

Both incidents are currently being investigated. At this time, it is unknown if both incidents are related. Anyone with information regarding the incident(s) is encouraged to contact the Lansing Police Department at 708-895-7150.
