Buffalo Wild Wings temporarily closed for remodel, smaller concept planned

“Probably several weeks away from reopening.”

LANSING, Ill. (January 22, 2024) – Fear not, sports fans and chicken wing lovers.

The Buffalo Wild Wings location at 3720 Ridge Road is only closed temporarily.

“We’re doing a remodel,” said District Manager Louis Grugel.

Work started on January 9, and no specific date has been set for reopening.

“With our agreement with Buffalo Wild Wings, we have to update the stores every so often,” Grugel said.

Grugel estimated the location has been a Buffalo Wild Wings for 14 years, while longtime Lansing residents might remember the Tortilla Grill & Cantina and Party Liquors having inhabited the site previously.

Smaller, “center stage” concept

The space won’t be quite as big after work is done, as the bar along the west wall will be moved in to make room available on that side of the building so a smaller, yet-to-be-determined tenant can go in there.

Grugel said the restaurant had one of Buffalo Wild Wings’ older layouts and is being turned into what is known as “the center stage concept.”

“We’re dong a whole new bar, new seats, new furniture,” Grugel said.

He said the carryout area will be more functional and and a brighter paint scheme will help “make it feel fresher.”

Grugel said televisions will be larger and easier for patrons to see and lighting outside the restaurant will be improved.

“It’s going to bring a new experience into Lansing,” Grugel said.

Staff working elsewhere as Story Construction takes over

He said no employees have been out of a job due to the temporary closure.

“We’ve been using them at other locations locally,” Grugel said.

Story Construction out of Nashville, TN has been entrusted with renovations.

Grugel said this will be the sixth remodeling project Story Construction has done for Buffalo Wild Wings in the Chicagoland market.

Rick Story, owner of Story Construction, said his crew has already “totally renovated the whole dining room, takeout, restrooms, some work in the kitchen.”

Story said new signage will be added on the outside and other required work will also be completed.

“We’re going to have to fire sprinkle the building,” Story said.

When reached on January 16, Story figured the store was “probably several weeks away from reopening.”

“It should make it a really nice, intimate sports bar for the community,” Story said.

Buffalo Wild Wings

In addition to chicken wings, Buffalo Wild Wings is known for its variety of wing sauces and dry rubs and for other items such as wraps and sandwiches.

  1. Making it smaller for another tenant, is stupid, maybe we like the way it was you ever think about that, Mr Louis Grugel, maybe since you decided to change it we won’t be coming back, you think you people can change things when ever you want close down, be gone for months and we will be willing to just grovel back at your doors once you open, wrong my friend, you made a big mistake, when you reopen, it won’t be long till your closed for good I can promise you that!!!!!!!😡😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬

    • It only took them 27 days month on the remodel. We went last night, 2/6, the day after they reopened. It looks great and they were busy. High top table chairs were comfortable. We’re glad to see them invest in the community. Even with making it smaller, it actually seems like there were more tables than before.
