Things to do in Lansing this week – January 1 edition

LANSING, Ill. (December 24, 2023) – The items listed below are public events compiled from a variety of community sources. They represent a diversity of ways to be involved this week.

Tuesday, January 2

Daycare Storytime

Time: 11:00 a.m. & noon
Location: Lansing Public Library (Discovery Quarters) 2750 Indiana Avenue, Lansing
“This storytime is for daycares with 6 children and under. Daycares with over 6 children may call the library to schedule a separate storytime.”

Christmas Around the World

Time: Various
Location: Lansing Historical Society Museum, 2750 Indiana Avenue, Lansing.
This annual exhibit shows over 30 Christmas trees and highlights holiday traditions from around the world. This week it’s open January 2, 3, and 4 (Tuesday – Thursday), 6 – 8 p.m. The last day is Saturday, January 6, 12 – 3 p.m.

LACE Queen of Hearts

Time: Tickets must be purchased by 6:45 p.m. for the drawing at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, January 3

Move with Sol

Time: 10:30 a.m. & noon

“Let’s burn some energy! Follow along as we have fun exercising to kid friendly YouTube dance videos.”

Free ‘n Fun Bingo at Kasey’s

Time: 6:00 p.m.

Thursday, January 4

Ribbon Cutting – House of Health & Wellness

Time: 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Location: Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce, 1400 Torrence Ave, Suite 213, Calumet City
“The Chamber in partnership with House of Health and Wellness will be participating in a ribbon cutting ceremony.”

Paint In Place

Time: 5 p.m. & 7 p.m.

Library @ Nite: Saddle Shoe Sisters

Live Entertainment at Kasey’s

Time: 7 – 10 p.m.
Location: Kacey’s Banquet Hall and Lounge, 17800 Lorenz Avenue, Lansing (708) 895-7720
Starting in 2024, Kasey’s will feature live music on Saturdays. Jayme Jay Meyers will be performing live at the venue on January 6.

Classic at Bottoms Up

Time: 7 p.m.
Location: 1696 Thornton Lansing Road, Lansing
Patrons can have dinner and listen to some tunes from Classic.

Side Action at J.J. Kelley’s

Time: 8:30 – 11:30 p.m.
Location: 2455 Bernice Road, Lansing
The cover band “Side Action” will be kicking off the new year with a performance at J.J. Kelley’s.


Sunday, January 7

United Methodist Worship in Sanctuary

Time: 10 a.m.
