Obituary Lois Van Vuren

Lois Van Vuren, nee Lorenz, age 92, of Dyer, Indiana, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Carl Van Vuren, and the loving mother of Richard Van Vuren, Ann (Douglas) Jorgensen, and Donna (Teddy) DeGraff. Beloved grandmother of Richard (Cindy) Van Vuren Jr., Meghan (Scott) Phillips, and Daniel Van Vuren; Amanda (Eric) Van Noort, Zach (Jess) DeGraff, and Brittany (Seth) Eenigenburg; Andrew, Kurt, and Luke Jorgensen. Great-grandmother of eleven. Dear sister of Kathryn Lorenz. Preceded by siblings Harold Lorenz, Luella Sonntag, Florence Peters, Butch Lorenz, Warren Lorenz, Lola Runyon, Ronald Lorenz, and Beverly Lorenz. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Lois spent her childhood in Lansing, Illinois, before her 50-plus years of marriage to Carl in South Holland. They were members of First Reformed Church of South Holland where Lois grew in her faith. After retiring from Whiting Corporation, she devoted her time to quilting, baking, bike riding, and caring for her grandchildren.

Visitation Saturday, December 30, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at First Reformed Church, 15924 South Park Ave., South Holland, IL, with services conducted by Rev. James Oord. Interment Homewood Memorial Gardens – Homewood, IL. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to First Reformed Church.

  1. Lois had the biggest smile and gave the best hugs.
    When I moved my mom, Irene Kobus into Symphony of Dyer, Lois was our instant friend. I visited with Lois even after my mom passed away. What a lovely, lovely woman. She often spoke of her large family and all of her grandchildren whom she loved so much.
    Knowing that you’re in heaven, if you see my mom, please give her a hug from me too.❤️
