137 local education stories so far this year, but we know we missed some
LANSING, Ill. (December 20, 2023) – When TF North alum Quinton Arthur began reporting for The Lansing Journal, we were grateful for his mix of journalism experience and photo/videography skill. Soon he took over the local Education beat, attending school board meetings at Districts 215, 171, and 158 and reporting what happened there.
But Quinton is now continuing his own education, and he is less available as a freelance journalist for The Lansing Journal. Managing Editor Josh Bootsma and I are doing our best to fill in (as an example, the video report pictured above), but the truth is, we need additional reporters in order to give local education the coverage our local families deserve.
To add more reporters, we need more supporters. It is reader support that funds the journalism we provide every day.
We don’t put The Lansing Journal behind a paywall because we want students, parents, grandparents, teachers, and the broader community to be able to access anything we’ve written. The hundreds of articles we’ve published online are available at any time by anyone.
But that costs money. Will you become a Monthly Supporter and help cover those costs?
Right now because of a MATCHING GIFT, when you sign up as a Monthly Supporter at any level, The Lansing Journal will receive an extra $100. Use the form below to help us keep reporting — not just education, but all the stories you love to read each morning:
