District 171 Board meeting – 6:30 p.m.

The December 18 meeting of the District 171 School Board begins at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will occur at Heritage Middle School, 19266 Burnham Avenue in Lansing.

  3. Mission
    • The mission of Sunnybrook School District 171 is to maximize student achievement by cultivating critical thinking skills, innovative instructional practices and a collaborative school, home, and community partnership.
  4. Roll Call
  5. Any person wishing to address the board about an item that is on the agenda should do so when that item is up for discussion. Visitors’ statements will be limited to two minutes per person. A total of 30 minutes will be allocated for visitor comments. All comments about items not on the agenda will be held until the Visitors’ statements at the end of the meeting. Items related to personnel issues will be redirected to the appropriate Administrator.
  6. Recommended Motion: Consent Agenda
    • To approve the Regular Board of Education meeting minutes of November 20, 2023; closed session minutes of November 20, 2023; Special Board of Education meeting November 30, 2023; December expenses; and November payroll in the amount of $1,736,698.81, as presented.

      Request from Patrick Lee
      Illinois State Wide request using public database of contracts for Illinois.
      Requesting latest IAQ and Environmental Testing for school that include mold spore sampling data for each school.
    • FOIA Request:
      Request from SmartProcure requesting all purchasing records from 7/24/2023 to the date of 11/29/2023.

    • Recommended Motion: To approve the replacement of two transformers at Heritage Middle School in the amount of $15,070, as presented.
    • Recommended Motion: To approve the Suburban School Cooperative Insurance Property and Liability 2024 premium in the amount of $85,344, as presented.
    • Recommended Motion: To approve the purchase of classroom furniture for Heritage Middle School in the amount of $13,284, as presented.
    • Recommended Motion: To approve the contract between Sunnybrook S.D. #171 and Soliant Health, contractual services for Ms. Liz Fleming-Willis, Counselor, effective January 8, 2024, until the end of the 2023-2024 school year. The position replaces Ms. Ashley Stalter, as presented.

  13. Recommended Motion: To move in to closed session for the purpose of the appointment, compensation, student discipline, performance for dismissal of specific employees of the district. 5ILCS 120/2 (c) (1). Superintendent/Board Relations.

The Open Meetings Act requires that “An agenda for each regular meeting shall be posted at the principal office of the public body and at the location where the meeting is to be held at least 48 hours in advance of the holding of the meeting.” District 171 posts agendas and minutes on its website.
