Lansing Library card holders can now get discounts at local businesses

LANSING, Ill. (December 5, 2023) – The Lansing Public Library’s new Community Roots program allows library card holders to receive discounts at local businesses. The program is designed to encourage residents to both get a Lansing Library card and patronize local businesses.

“It’s an additional perk to having a library card,” said Andrew Harootunian, Community Outreach Coordinator at the Lansing Library.

Participating businesses sign up for a six-month commitment to offer a discount to card-holders. Residents simply show their library card at one of the participating businesses to receive a discount.

“We want to encourage people to go to community businesses,” said Lisa Korajczyk, Library Director.

The current list of businesses offering discounts to library card holders includes:

The Library hopes to add more businesses to the program in the coming months, and is inviting local businesses that might be interested in partnering as part of the Community Roots program.

Library cards can only be obtained in person at the Lansing Public Library, located at 2750 Indiana Avenue. For information on the necessary documentation to receive a card, visit the Library’s website.
