Things to do in Lansing this week – November 27 edition

LANSING, Ill. (November 26, 2023) – The items listed below are public events compiled from a variety of community sources. They represent a diversity of ways to be involved this week.


Monday, November 27

Winter Wonderland Escape Room

Time: 12 – 7 p.m.

Location: Lansing Public Library, 2750 Indiana Avenue, Lansing

Festival of Lights opening ceremony

Time: 6 p.m.

Location: Lansing Historical Society Museum, 2750 Indiana Avenue, Lansing.

The Festival of Lights celebration and performance on the Lansing Library stage launches another season of celebrating the holidays through a multi-cultural lens at at the Lansing Historical Society Museum.

The exhibit is open through January 6, but is closed on December 23 – 25, and December 30 – January 1. The exhibit is open Monday – Thursday, 6 – 8 p.m. and Saturdays, 12 – 3 p.m.

Giving Tuesday

Coffee Break

Versiti Blood Drive

“Versiti is coming to Lansing Public Library for a blood drive. Every blood drive can save the life of a local pediatric, maternity, or trauma patient.”

Book Musical Chairs

The public is invited to to tour the free display of over 35 Christmas trees from around the world.


Wednesday, November 29

Pop-up pantry

Time: 9:30 a.m.

Location: Mt. Zion UFL Center, 2340 177th Street, Lansing (708-394-3555)

Mt. Zion UFL Center partners with Illinois Partners In Hope to distribute a variety of donated food once or twice a week. These pop-up pantries are open to anyone, and no ID is required.

Crochet & knitting group

Time: 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Location: Lansing Public Library, Brick Room
2750 Indiana Avenue, Lansing

“Bring your own supplies and learn some techniques from this talented group!”

Make your own glass magnets

Time: 4 – 5 p.m.

Location: Lansing Public Library, Teen Island, 2750 Indiana Avenue, Lansing

“Choose your favorite patterns or artwork to make unique fridge magnets. You can even make magnets of family members, friends, and even your favorite celebrity crush.” Register here.

Eye Candy

Neighborhood Watch Meeting

Time: 6:30 p.m.

Location: Lansing Courtroom Complex, 2710 170th Street, Lansing

The quarterly neighborhood watch meetings are open to the public and are an opportunity to hear from your local officers about policing updates, and ask questions or express concerns.

Trivia at Kasey’s

Time: 7 p.m.

Location: Kasey’s Banquet Hall and Lounge, 17800 Lorenz Avenue, Lansing

Trivia with Nick At Night Entertainment happens every week on Thursdays. The restaurant opens at 5 p.m. Nick will start the show around 7 p.m.


Friday, December 1

Kasey’s Karaoke

Time: 7 p.m.

Location: Kasey’s Banquet Hall and Lounge, 17800 Lorenz Avenue, Lansing

Karaoke with Joe Sibley takes place every week on Fridays at Kasey’s Banquet Hall.

Classic at Lynnie Que’s

Time: 7 p.m.

Saturday, December 2

Santa Pancake Breakfast

Time: 8 – 11 a.m.

Location: Lansing Christian School, 3660 Randolph Street, Lansing

The Lansing-Area’s Chamber pancake breakfast will feature pancakes from made by the Lansing Copper Muggers and a visit from Santa. Read more.

The public is invited to to tour the free display of over 35 Christmas trees from around the world.

Fox Pointe Tree Lighting and Santa House opening

Time: 5 – 8 p.m.

Location: Fox Pointe, 18138 Henry Street, Lansing

Santa’s arrival, the tree-lighting ceremony, and a new holiday market will be featured at this year’s event. Read more.

Sunday, December 3

Fox Pointe Daily Tree viewing

Time: 3 – 8 p.m. from December 3 – 30 (weather permitting)

Location: Fox Pointe, 18138 Henry Street, Lansing

Fox Pointe Holiday trees will be on display throughout December. The new light show will only be available through December 10. Fox Pointe will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
