Holiday market, lights, and Santa’s arrival set for Lansing’s Fox Pointe

5 p.m. on Saturday, December 2

LANSING, Ill. (November 24, 2023) – Families attending the Village of Lansing’s Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony this year will experience new elements to the beloved event.

Scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday, December 2 at Fox Pointe, 18138 Henry Street, the annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony will kick off the holiday season for the village and celebrate the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus to their residence in Lansing, located at 18106 Henry Street.

Carolers will welcome visitors to the festivities, and attendees will watch Village of Lansing Mayor Patricia L. Eidam throw the switch to light the village tree and the dozens of trees sponsored and decorated by area businesses, schools, and organizations.

A first for this year, Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive at their Lansing home in a horse-drawn carriage escorted by police, public works, and fire vehicles. Families will get to visit with the Clauses at the Santa House from 6 – 8 p.m.

In addition to Santa’s unique arrival, the occasion will feature its first holiday market, including nearly two dozen vendors selling gifts and holiday decorations.

A little later in the evening, a brand-new light show set to holiday music will entertain visitors.

The village was one of 18 northern Illinois communities to receive a grant from ComEd and the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus for ComEd’s Powering the Holidays Program. The village was awarded $2,500 and will use the matching grant toward its festive light display at Fox Pointe.

“We are excited to partner with ComEd on the addition of colorful lighting displays at Fox Pointe in December,” said Director of Venue Operations Ken Reynolds. “The musical shows will greatly enhance our holiday trees and other decorations, creating an even more entertaining holiday venue experience for guests of all ages.”

The special light show will continue to be featured every evening through December 10.

In case of inclement weather, the snow date for the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, December 3 at 5 p.m.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available to visit with families on four additional dates: Fridays, December 8 and 15, 6 – 8 p.m.; and Saturdays, December 9 and 16, noon – 3 p.m.

Fox Pointe will be open daily for tree viewing December 3 – 30, from 3 – 8 p.m., weather permitting. The venue will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
