Keeping the paywall down

LANSING, Ill. (October 18, 2023) – The Lansing Journal has never put our news behind a paywall — and we never want to. We believe the information we provide is important for our community, and we want everyone to have access to it, regardless of their ability to pay.

Reader support is what keeps that paywall down. Your contributions are what make it possible for us to provide the news for free.

This community gets it

We are grateful to be part of a community that understands this. We have many faithful supporters who make personal contributions so that we can keep reporting, publishing, and delivering local news every day.

We’re here because of you

In the past six years, The Lansing Journal has become a trusted source of news. This is incredibly important for a community like ours that is not being served by any other newspaper. Only The Lansing Journal reports on our local government, our local businesses and restaurants, our local schools and parks, and all the community events that give people opportunities to connect with each other. It’s a lot of work for our small team, but we’ve seen what a difference it makes when people are informed and connected.

We’ve been able to do that because of you, our readers and supporters.

We think you want us to stay

For The Lansing Journal to continue serving this community, we need more support from more of the people we serve. It is my job as Publisher to keep encouraging people to contribute what they can so we can send the Daily News every morning, keep our website live, and pay our reporters a fair amount for all the hours they put into each story.

Reporting the news is expensive, so keeping the paywall down only works when we all do our part.

We hear from so many of you how much you appreciate local news. You look forward to receiving that Daily News email each morning. You attend local events, try new local restaurants, and patronize local businesses because of what you read in the Journal. We think you’d miss us if we went out of business.

Could you give today to make sure that doesn’t happen? Especially if you have never contributed to this local newspaper, would you consider giving now?

We need you now

In fact, we especially need more monthly supporters. We need sustainers. Even $10 or $12 each month goes a long way to keep this newspaper going. Could you sign up as a monthly giver? That’s an option in the form below.

Your investment will help us continue telling the stories of our community. Your support will allow us to keep providing free news for everyone.

Your gifts will keep the paywall down.

Will you help The Lansing Journal so we can keep serving our community? We need you now.
