Gary E. Snell, age 71 – of Frankfort, IL formerly of Lansing, IL – was called home to be with the Lord peacefully at his home on September 30, 2023. Gary is survived by his wife Dorothy (Crescenzi), Son Brian (Mandy), Daughter Megan (Ethan) Bedsaul, Grandchildren Ellie, Brody, and Molly Bedsaul, and future grandchild Baby Snell. Sister Patricia Snell, Sister-in-Law Lillie Snell, and Sister-in-Law Pat Snell. He was an uncle of many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Elizabeth Snell and Brothers James and David Snell.
Gary was born and raised in Creve Coeur, IL, and graduated Spalding High School in 1969 and University of Illinois in 1973. He worked 33 years as an electrical engineer for Commonwealth Edison where he met Dorothy. Gary was a longtime member at Trinity Lutheran Church, serving as treasurer for many years. Gary was a loving and dedicated husband and father, always supportive of his children. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, golfing, gardening, and cheering for “Da Bears.”
A memorial service for Gary will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2505 Indiana Avenue, Lansing, IL, on Saturday, October 14th, 2023. Visitation remembering Gary with his family will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and service to follow at 12:00pm with Pastor Gary Schmidtke officiating. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Trinity Lutheran Church Lansing, IL. Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements and care of Mr. Snell.
