Violet Parker Van Drunen, nee Vander Giessen age 81, of Crete, IL passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 14, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Howard Parker and the late Cornelius “Neal” Van Drunen. Loving mother of Pamela (John) Holleman. Devoted grandmother of David and Daniel Holleman. Dear sister of the late Betty (late Roy) Bonnema, late Peter (late Jean Vander Giessen Pluymert) Vander Giessen, late Joan (late Harry) Scheeringa, and the late Viola (Gene) Nootbaar. Kind aunt to many nieces and nephews. Dear step-mother of Michael (Lisa) Van Drunen, Russell (Marcia) Van Drunen, and the late Kathy DeBoer, step mother in-law of William (Barb) DeBoer, dear step-grandmother of Ryan DeBoer, Rachel DeBoer, Michelle (Todd) Adams, Katie (Tyler) Monk, Jon (Tori) Van Drunen, Josh (Ruth Ann) Van Drunen, Michael (Haley) Van Drunen, Jackie (Steven) Lewis, Yara Van Drunen, Racquel Van Drunen, Leah (Austin) Evenhouse, Josie (Connor) McCormack, and Nolee Van Drunen and twelve step-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents Simon and Nellie Vander Giessen.
Visitation Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 3 – 8 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. Visitation also on Friday, September 22, 2023, from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 11 a.m. at First Orthodox Presbyterian Church of South Holland, 16248 South Park Avenue, South Holland, IL, with Rev. Daniel Svendsen officiating. Burial will take place at Homewood Memorial Gardens – Homewood, IL.
