Obituary Michael Bielecki

Michael “Mike” Bielecki, age 83, of Lansing, Illinois passed away peacefully on Friday, August 4, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Pat (nee Goryl) Bielecki, daughter Sue (late Bruce) Gorney, sister Fran Tharp, sister-in-law Barbara Bartoli, brother-in-law Ernie Bartoli, and sister-in-law Roberta Bielecki. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews and his beloved grand dog Wally. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Eleanor Bielecki, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Joseph and Jean Goryl, his brother Mel Bielecki, and his son-in-law Bruce Gorney.

Michael was born in Hammond, Indiana, and raised in Harvey, Illinois. He was a resident of Lansing for almost 50 years and was a parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church (now All Souls Church). He graduated from Thornton Township High School in Harvey, Illinois. He attended University of Illinois and earned a degree from DeVry Technical Institute. Michael served in the U.S. Army for three years and later worked as a Systems Engineer for IBM for over 25 years.

Michael loved to read, sometimes reading as many as three different books at the same time. He was an avid fisherman and belonged to many fishing clubs, having won many trophies over the years. He always looked forward to his annual fishing vacations to Ludington, Michigan, with his wife Pat. He was a life-long Chicago Bears fan who loved his family. He was known for his keen sense of humor and outgoing personality. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

Friends may visit with Michael’s family on Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois. Funeral services for Michael will be held Friday, August 11, 2023, at the funeral home, starting with 9:30 AM closing prayers then proceeding to (All Souls Church) St. Ann Catholic Church, 3010 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois, for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Michael will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Calumet City, Illinois.
