QuikTrip gas station and convenience store to open Thursday, July 20

LANSING, Ill. (July 17, 2023) – The new Lansing QuikTrip will open on Thursday July 20 at 17355 Torrence Avenue. The location will be Lansing’s largest gas station, with dozens of fueling stalls available for cars and semitrucks alike.

Immediately north of the 80-94 Interstate, the location will provide a convenience store and fueling options for travelers exiting the highway, as well as the many commuters that regularly use Torrence Avenue.

QuikTrip’s opening will complete an economic development process that started when Kmart closed at the location in 2016. The shuttered box store was demolished in late 2021 ahead of QuikTrip’s development.

QuikTrip Real Estate Manager Andrew Smith said in 2021 to the Lansing Village Board that though the location intends to be a popular spot for highway truckers to stop for gas and grab a bite to eat, it will not be an overnight facility, with onsite staff trained to enforce that rule.

QuikTrip has obtained a packaged liquor license from the Village of Lansing, and although it will not open with gaming machines, Smith told The Lansing Journal they are open to adding them “at some time in the future.”

The Lansing-Area Chamber of Commerce is organizing a ribbon-cutting event for QuikTrip’s opening on Thursday, July 20.
