LANSING, Ill. (June 25, 2023) – The items listed below are all public events gathered from a variety of sources. They represent a diversity of ways to be involved in the community this week.

9–11 a.m. – Remembering When

Mt. Zion UFL Center partners with Illinois Partners In Hope to distribute a variety of donated food once or twice a week. These pop-up pantries are open to anyone, and no ID is required.

10–11 a.m. – Morning Tai-Chi

Adults 18 and older are invited to start their summer mornings with peaceful Tai-Chi sessions on the library front lawn, with instructor Brian Thompson from BNew4Life.

1:30 p.m. – Dedication of LARC Memorial Garden

LARC, a not-for-profit organization providing services and supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, invites the community to its Memorial Garden Dedication (see linked article for details).

5:30–6 p.m. – Family bingo/loteria

Families are invited to the library for a night of family BINGO/LOTERIA (Mexican BINGO) and a chance to win a tasty treat.

6 p.m. – Fox Pointe concert

The Wednesday night concert series continues, and this week’s opening act is Kristyana Michelle, taking the stage at 6 p.m. At 7:30 p.m. the main act begins — Nawty. Their specialty is “Motown on up” according to their Facebook page.

6:30 p.m. – Planning and Zoning Board meeting

The Planning and Zoning Board meets as needed, and citizens are welcome to attend. At this week’s meeting, commissioners will hear a request from Rhoyal Bistro (2352 172nd Street) for a live entertainment special use, as well as an outdoor dining request. They will also hear from Tanya White regarding a daycare and art center located at 19273–19279 Burnham — continued from the last P&Z meeting.

7 p.m. – An upcoming change at Kasey’s

Kasey’s is planning to begin offering the beloved trivia and karaoke nights every week rather than on alternating weeks. Beginning July 6, Trivia with Nick At Night Entertainment will happen every week on Thursdays. And beginning June 30, Kasey’s Karaoke will happen every Friday in the lounge. The restaurant opens at 5 p.m.

Saturday, July 1

July 1–28 – Clue, Library edition

Patrons are invited to collect as many clues as possible about a “crime” committed at the library, and eliminate as many possibilities before the final week when the accusation is due (July 28). Based on what remains, participants make an educated accusation of who, what and where. Game kits are available from the Info Desk, where participants can submit weekly accusations to earn more clues.
