Obituary: John Marshall Hemmerling

November 1, 1935 – June 16, 2023

John Marshall Hemmerling John Marshall Hemmerling, age 87, of South Holland, IL, passed away Friday, June 16, 2023. Beloved husband of Louisa Hemmerling, nee Damiani. Loving father of John (Lynda) Hemmerling, Leann (John) Lolli, and Joseph (Amanda Athon) Hemmerling. Cherished grandpapa of Kristina, John, Robert, Micheal, and AnnMarie Hemmerling, Kayleigh (Branden) Ferro, Madelon, Francesca, Giana, Lucia, and John Paul Lolli, Avery and Natalie Hemmerling. Dear brother of Carol (late Roger) Buss and the late Nancy (late Arthur) Erickson. Dear uncle of many nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by his parents Marshall and Margaret Hemmerling.

John was a United States Army Veteran. Devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary as a long-time member of the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima, he brought the Pilgrim Virgin Statue to hundreds of churches in the Archdiocese of Chicago throughout his adulthood. He was a lifelong automobile enthusiast. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Visitation Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Catholic Church, 880 E. 154th Street, South Holland, IL. Interment Assumption Cemetery – Glenwood, IL. Memorial contributions may be given to Blue Army of our Lady of Fatima – Chicago, P.O. Box 2938, Orland Park, IL 60462.
