Gloria F. Gosciej, age 95, of Lansing, Illinois went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 7, 2023.
She will be deeply missed by her loving children Susan Atchley, John (Nancy) Gosciej, Tom (Donna) Gosciej, and Cindie (Gary) Cox; grandchildren Kathy Brakhage, Pam Joseph, Michael Gosciej, Crystal Kamm, Michelle Vergara, Rachel McManus, and Clarissa Legg, and their spouses; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded into glory by her husband, Chester.
Gloria was a devoted follower of Christ who discipled her family in the faith. She shared the Gospel with everyone she met, including the children she taught in Sunday school for many years. She was always ready to help her family and friends in any way she could, and as a prayer warrior, when she told you she was going to pray for you, she really meant it.
She enjoyed sewing beautiful clothing, especially for her granddaughters. She was an incredible cook who loved making meals for her family. In fact, she cooked every holiday meal, even up to age 95. She led an active, full life, including taking a job at the age of 65 after her husband passed and continuing to work until the age of 87. Although not fond of traveling, she did so in her later years in order to be a part of her loved ones’ special moments. She was able to visit the ocean for the first time with her family at age 89. She had great love and compassion for animals and had many dogs during her lifetime, sharing her life with them as happily as with any person.
Gloria, our Mom, Momma, Gram, Bamma, and Grandma, was a strong and beautiful woman who will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. She was a blessing to us all.
Friends who wish to visit with Gloria’s family are invited to Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home at 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL, on Saturday, May 13, 2023. The visitation will take place from 9:00 AM to noon, with the service beginning at noon with Pastor Bob Neuman officiating. Gloria will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Lansing.
