Obituary Nick DeLaurentis

Nicholas DeLaurentis age 78 of Schererville, IN, passed away peacefully Thursday morning of April 27, 2023. Nick is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Brenda Jo DeLaurentis (nee Cole). He leaves behind his sons Nicholas (Cristina) and Michael (Angela), both of Crown Point, IN. Survived by his grandchildren Alyssa, Jordan, Jared (mother Lynn DeLaurentis), Samantha, Matthew, Tyler Geeve and Tara Geeve. Brothers Andrew (Norene), Anthony (Antionette), and Richard (Barbara). Sister-in-law Sharon (Paul Boyd) and numerous nieces and nephews. Nick is preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Sylvia, in-laws Wavie and Evanelle Cole, brothers-in-law Edward Cole (Jean) and William Langley.

Nick was born in Chicago, IL, and grew up in Lansing, IL, and later retired to Schererville, IN. He was heavily involved in sports (baseball, basketball, golfing, and fishing). He served in the Army for two years and worked in the office for Ford Motor Company in Chicago, IL, for 30 years. He served his church St. Ann’s Church as a member and officer of the Men’s Club and in numerous other ways and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing and golfing with his close friends and family. Nick was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and lived to experience their World Series Championship in 2016. Nick loved his family and friends, while always helping others. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all who knew him.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services for Nick will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023, beginning with closing prayers at 9:30 AM at the funeral home then proceeding to All Souls Catholic Parish at St. Ann’s Church, 3010 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Father Mark Kalema officiating. Nick will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Nick’s name to the Alzheimer’s Research Association.
