LANSING, Ill. (October 4, 2022) – Fox Pointe’s annual scarecrow decorating contest and trick-or-treating event is quickly approaching as the Village of Lansing looks forward to hosting its third year of fall-related events in 2022.

Scarecrow decorating

The crows will be flying scared around Fox Pointe from October 21 – 28 as dozens of decorated scarecrows will be spread throughout the venue.

Now through October 14, Lansing residents, businesses, and other organizations are invited to pick up their scarecrow frame at the Lansing Municipal Center. A $10 entry fee is required to participate in the contest.

Participants can drop off their fully-decorated scarecrows at Fox Pointe on three dates: October 8 (9 a.m. – noon), October 14 (4 – 7 p.m.), and October 15 (9 a.m. – noon). Finished scarecrows will not be accepted at the Lansing Municipal Center.

October 21 – 28, the public is welcome to walk through Fox Pointe to view and judge the scarecrows. The winners will be announced at the Fox Pointe trick-or-treat event on October 29. First place will win $100, second place $50, and third place $25.

Fox Pointe trick-or-treat

More people than expected came out to Fox Pointe’s trick-or-treating event last year, with an estimated 2,500 people making the circuit around the venue to gather candy from local businesses and organizations.

This year’s event will start at 2 p.m. on October 29 and end at 4 p.m. Businesses, churches, schools, and other organizations set up tables throughout the venue to give away candy and other treats. The scarecrows will also be on display during this time.

For businesses or organizations interested in hosting a table at the event, call Sheila Calomino at 708-895-7208 to register. There is no fee to participate, besides the cost to buy candy for 750-1,000 children.

Fox Pointe is located at 18138 Henry Street in Lansing. The Lansing Municipal Center is located at 3141 Ridge Road.
