COVID-19 news releases move to once a week on Fridays; data to be updated on IDPH website Monday through Friday

information gathered from Johns Hopkins University by HiGeorge; information gathered from the Illinois Department of Public Health and the SSMMA COVID dashboard by Melanie Jongsma

LANSING, Ill. (June 14, 2021) – We began sharing COVID-related data and statistics on March 26, 2020, and throughout the past 15 months we’ve experimented with different ways of presenting whatever information we felt was relevant, accurate, and useful. Adding interactive charts created by HiGeorge helped put trends in perspective. Adding the COVID dashboard created by South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association helped give local context. We are grateful for the efforts of those two organizations.

Having entered Phase 5 of Restore Illinois on Friday, June 11, we will follow the lead of the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and publish a new post only when they send out new information. They plan to continue to update the data daily on their website, but distribute news releases weekly. The COVID quick-links we have in our sidebar will continue to provide direct access to the IDPH website for anyone interested in reviewing the daily numbers.
