The rumors are true: Park Service Station will be closing

LANSING, Ill. (October 8, 2018) – Terry Kapteyn understands that people want to know the facts, but he’s been hesitant to release information into the public until the deal is done. Still, with rumors circulating, he decided to set the record straight. Yes, he and his brother Scott are planning to sell their business, Park Service Station, which has been selling gas and fixing cars from the same location since 1959.
The closing had been scheduled for Tuesday, October 9, but now it has been pushed back, so the immediate future remains uncertain. The buyer, who shall remain nameless for the time being, owns other gas and auto service properties, so it’s possible that those services will continue to be offered at 18025 Torrence Avenue.
“It’s up to the buyer to decide what he wants to do with the property,” says Kapteyn. “But we didn’t sell the name. Park Service Station will no longer be in existence.”
Park Service Station was originally opened in 1959 by Scott and Terry’s father, John Kapteyn.
More information will be released as it becomes verified.
Park Service Station is currently located at 18025 Torrence Avenue in Lansing.
