She is survived by her loving son Michael (Vickie) Gruhlke of Valparaiso, IN. Cherished grandmother of: Tom (Brandi) Gruhlke of California, Steve Gruhlke of Texas, and Michael P. (Nantaka) of Wisconsin, and great grandmother of six. Loving aunt of Vanessa M. ( Bob) Hongisto and great aunt of Chris and daughter-in-law Mary Ann Gruhlke. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband Vernon A. Gruhlke, Sr., parents Wilbur and Alexzandrine Barrett, sister Irene Duncan, and son Vernon A. Gruhlke, Jr.
Funeral services will be held for Mary on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at 10:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2505 Indiana Avenue, Lansing, Illinois, with Rev. John M.M. Holyer officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 AM until time of service. Mary will be laid to rest at Oak Glen Cemetery, Lansing, Illinois. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois.
Mary was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lansing, IL. She was loved by many, and she will be truly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mary’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church, 2505 Indiana Ave, Lansing, Illinois 60438 or William J. Riley Memorial Residence, 511 Otis Bowen Dr., Munster, Indiana 46321.
